Dr. Kleinbaum saved my life, and my breast, in 2011 the first time I was diagnosed with breast Cancer. I was new in TX having moved from NYC and on the SATURDAY after receiving my diagnosis after biopsy, over the phone, I had driven passed the Cancer Center so turned in to the parking lot to get some information. In NYC everything is open all the time so I did not understand why this door was locked when I NEEDED information! The parking lot had been empty which should have been a dead give away...but suddenly there was a man there, ON SATURDAY asking the crazy lady pulling on the locked door (me)
"Hello, can I help you?"
So I started to explain that I had just been diagnosed with cancer and I needed some information, and I could not understand why this cancer center was closed on a Saturday!
He said softly,
"May I ask what diagnosis you have received?"
I was still unable to even say it out loud, so I said, with Tears Streaming down my face,
"Lets just say I had an ugly mammogram."
The Kind man took out his wallet, took out a business card, (he also had a clipboard in his hand) wrote something on the back of the card and handed it to me.
I looked at the back of the card, it said Amy, and there was a phone number and hours Starting with Monday, 8am.
I turned the card over, if said Eric P. Kleinbaum Oncologist.
He put his hand on my arm and He said "Call Amy on Monday morning to schedule an appointment."
So I already told you all that I was a crazy lady, but from MY point of view, GOD literally dropped an oncologist into an empty parking lot ... on a SATURDAY for me when I was at a time in my life when I did not know what to do.
I want to point out that other Doctors do not work on weekends. They spend time enjoying life with their families etc. Thats fine, they are human and entitled to do that. But this Doctor was at his office with a clipboard on a Saturday. I don't know what he was doing but he wasnt playing golf.
So that is how I met my Dr. Eric Kleinbaum.
I called Amy on Monday and got in to see the then young Dr. Kleinbaum.
He always answered all of my MANY questions, treated me with respect, was honest, and caring, can not think of a single negative thing to say, not one.
After completing treatment with him I was " Cancer free for nine years. When I had a recurrence, I had to go see a different doctor because I had moved 200 miles away. And Seriously, new Doctor just awful compared to Dr. KIeinbaum despite supposedly being the best based on research used to select him, ended up having to switch doctors mid treatment, but at least having had Dr. Kleinbaum, I have a standard at which to hold my Dr. to because When you are facing Cancer, you are entrusting your oncologist with your life. So you want him to be Smart, well educated and trained, experienced, Compassionate, detail oriented, and you want him or her to actually Care about You individually, even if he has 200 patients to care about.
I know this is a long review... as amazing a Doctor as Dr. Kleinbaum was for me in 2O11, he has had 14 Years now to Keep learning and growing.
Back then, his staff was amazing.
I hope this review helps Someone.
