Dr. Berilgen is a Board-certified radiation oncologist, receiving his certification in 2010 from the ABR. He specializes in various clinical services including lattice radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiotherapy (SRS), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and volumetric arc therapy (VMAT). He received his bachelor’s degree in physics from Washington University in St. Louis and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Upon completing his medical training, Dr. Berilgen attended his radiation oncology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed elective subspecialty training in breast, lung and prostate cancers at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
His specialized clinical physics team utilizes powerful planning optimizer tools (physical and biological optimizations) to customize complex treatment plans. This allows us to deliver lattice and spatially fractionated radiation therapy (SFRT), which are particularly effective in managing bulky cancers that pose challenges to conventional treatment methods.
Outside of work, Dr. Berilgen loves playing tennis, chess and poker. He also enjoys watching independent films.
